This week on TechTalk, we will be delving into the world of augmented reality!

I will concentrate on the Osmo monster’s technology, which uses Mo, a fluffy orange companion, to make your student's drawings part of fantastic animated tales. Mo's universe is created by images sketched for him (Mcilory, 2023; OSMO team, 2021). Additionally, each animated narrative can be saved for later playback for loved ones. Because Mo's role is to support young learner's imagination without passing judgment, this will help your student's creativity advance. It provides a framework for students to visualise and watch ideas come to life. For young people, that is a huge deal. Your creativity and your ideas are the tool you have (Mcilory, 2023; OSMO team, 2021).

Well, how does this help me meet my outcomes? This is best for early stage 1, equating to kindergarten, where I would you during literacy rotations, as this forces them to work on their hand-eye movement and fine motor skills. We want students to be able to draw and write legibly so anyone can read it. This helps them understand how to hold the pen correctly to get the wanted picture which in return helps them understand how to write as the pen position is similar, helping teacher achieve code ENE-CWT-01 (NESA, 2012).

The advantages are that fine motor skills are crucial for many areas of self-care as students, such as putting on shoes, eating, and cleaning their teeth. If neglected, fine motor skills can academically hinder pupils for years (Mcilory, 2023; OSMO team, 2021). Additionally essential for the development of writing are fine motor abilities. (Dev, 2012). Dev's (2012) study also discusses the general advantages fine motor skills have on success criteria in kindergarten. According to his findings, pupils have increase emotional intelligence and satisfaction compared to other how did not focus on fine motor skills.

While this technology is amazing, it is crucial to understand that everything comes with a limitation; while you can build up creativity by exploring imagination with no judgement, it does come with a hefty price this case, it would cost close to 200 dollars which, if budget is tight might not be achievable. The photo below is a special second technology that can be used it is an example of Zapprwork image an web programme where you can learn to make a AR image that can be used from iPhones this is giving teachers another tool to help foster the creative and critical thinking skills. By thinking beyond the Syllabus and using these tools to help students creativity to prosper.

That's it for this weeks TechTalk !

Can you see my secret message ?
